Hucks Boatyard

Huck’s Boatyard sits on the River Thames in East Molesey, centred around its iconic Grade II listed Swiss Chalet, imported in 1882 and originally part of the “Riverholm” estate. Known as O’Hagan’s Boathouse by 1909, the site has been a familiar riverside landmark for generations.

Today, under new ownership, Huck’s is turning the page—bringing back the working-boatyard spirit with a fully operational drydock, and restoring the place to what it was always meant to be: a proper home for boats on the Thames.

The Swiss Chalet

The site’s landmark building was imported from Switzerland in 1882, originally installed as a garden feature for the (now demolished) Riverholm house.

Historical Significance

Known as O’Hagan’s Boathouse by 1909, the site has a long-standing place on the Thames. It’s also been linked to silent-era impresario Fred Karno—famed for mentoring Charlie Chaplin—who is reported to have owned the property at one time.
